If you’re a BJJ practioner (or just a regular human), you should be able to touch your toes. In this quick video James Wilson will show you how to perform this movement with NO STRETCHING.
In my time in BJJ I’ve noticed an almost epidemic level of people who can’t touch their toes. You have high level guys with amazing BJJ specific flexibility yet they struggle with one of the most basic of all human movements.
If you can’t touch your toes it will affect you both on and off the mat in a lot of negative ways.
From increasing the strain on your lower back to compromising your balance when you invert, not being able to hinge at your hips and touch your toes is not good for you or your game.
The “Trick” to Touching Your Toes in 5 Minutes
In this video I show you a “trick” to help you touch your toes in 5 minutes with no stretching. I’ve used this exact drill to help 3 different black belts touch their toes for the first time in years and a 4th that came within an inch or so.
All of these guys weren’t even close to touching their toes and all of them gained over 8 inches range of motion. This also had an immediate impact on how they rolled, which goes to show you that improved movement will help even the highest level guys better apply their technique.
Does It Work?
“James showed us this drill during the seminar he put on at our facility. He demonstrated it on me and I gained over 8 inches range of motion, touching my toes for the first time in years.
We had several other guys use this drill after the seminar who also touched their toes for the first time in a long time, which was really impressive.
I’ve never had anything impact my mobility like this and other drills James has shown me. Really great stuff, you have to try it to believe it.”
